This Privacy Policy explains how All About PDF handles information when you use our Android application. We have designed this App to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share your personal data or your documents on our servers, because we do not operate any servers.
1. Documents You Process
All files you open, view, convert, edit, merge, split, sign, redact, compress, or otherwise process with All About PDF are handled locally on your device only.
- Your documents are never uploaded to us.
- We do not have access to the contents of your files.
- Files you create are saved to storage on your device at locations you choose (or the App's default folder).
- Uninstalling the App does not delete documents you created; those remain where you saved them.
2. Permissions We Request
The App requests only the permissions needed to function:
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Photos & media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android) | To pick images and files you choose to convert to PDF, and to open existing PDFs |
| Storage write (on older Android versions) | To save the PDFs you create |
| Internet & network state | Only to download on-device AI language models (see Section 3). Your documents are never sent over the internet by us |
You can deny any permission; features that depend on it will not work, but nothing else changes.
3. Third-Party Services Used Inside the App
The App uses the following Google/Android components. These run under Google's / your device maker's own privacy terms:
- ML Kit Translation & Language Identification (Google) — Used by the Document Translator. When you first translate a language pair, the relevant language model is downloaded from Google to your device; after that, translation runs fully offline on your device. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- ML Kit Text Recognition (OCR) — Runs on your device to extract text from images/scanned pages. Image content is processed on-device and is not sent to us.
- Android System Speech Recognition — Used by the "Audio to PDF" dictation feature when you tap the microphone. If you use it, your spoken audio is handled by your device's speech service (typically Google's), which may process audio in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and your device settings. If you never use dictation, no audio is processed.
- Android Text-to-Speech — Used for the "PDF to Audio" feature. Reading aloud is performed by your device's installed TTS engine.
We do not embed advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or social/login SDKs in the App.
4. Data Stored on Your Device
To make the App usable, small amounts of non-personal data are stored locally only:
- Recent files list — names/paths of PDFs you recently opened, so you can reopen them quickly. Cleared by clearing the App's data or uninstalling.
- Form/business-document drafts — values you type into invoice/receipt templates, kept so you don't lose work.
- Downloaded AI language models — cached by ML Kit for offline translation.
None of this is accessible to us and none of it leaves your device.
5. What We NEVER Do
- We never upload, read, copy, or index your documents.
- We never collect your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, or device identifiers.
- We never show third-party advertisements or track you across apps.
- We never require an account, sign-up, or login.
- We never sell data to anyone — there is no data to sell.
6. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since all processing happens on-device and we collect nothing, the App is safe for general audiences. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will address it.
7. Security
Documents are processed within your device's sandboxed storage, protected by Android's security model. We recommend using the App's encryption/password tools for sensitive documents and keeping your device locked. No method of storage or processing is 100% secure, but our architecture minimizes risk because your data never leaves your control.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Because we do not collect personal data, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. You remain in full control:
- Delete documents: use any file manager; files are yours.
- Clear App-stored drafts/recents: Android Settings → Apps → All About PDF → Clear data, or uninstall the App.
- Revoke permissions: Android Settings → Apps → All About PDF → Permissions.
- Requests about Google ML Kit data handling should follow Google's Privacy Policy.
If you contact us by email, we will use your email address only to respond to your query.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective date" at the top, and the latest version will always be published at this page.
